Who We Are
Vibrant Community, Innovative Schools
Moorhead Area Public Schools is a vibrant, caring community of teachers, support staff, students and families. We serve approximately 7,300 students speaking 57 different home languages. We know each student is on a unique educational journey, and we do everything we can to help them maximize their potential and thrive.

Foundations for the Future
The district theme for the 2025-2026 school year is “Foundations for the Future,” a celebration of what we’ve accomplished and a commitment to the work ahead. As we lay the groundwork for the future, student success and wellbeing are at the heart of every decision we make.
Our Progress
At MAPS, our reputation for excellence sets us apart,
and we’re proud of the progress we’ve seen in recent years.
We are meeting the diverse needs of students through specialized programs like the Alternative Learning Center, English Language Learning, and BARR (Building Assets, Reducing Risks).
K-2 literacy proficiency scores last year were the highest they’ve been since before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our district was chosen as one of twelve across the state to participate in a new Student Attendance Pilot Program. Over the past decade, enrollment has steadily grown by nearly 30%.
Recent building projects — including the Career Academy addition in 2021 and the Moorhead High School Building Project supported by voters in 2019 — reflect our commitment to future-ready learning.
Students are excelling in extracurricular activities. The Moorhead High School Spud Speech Team won its ninth consecutive state championship in 2025, our boys' hockey team won the state tournament last year, and the district had an individual state champion in wrestling in 2025.
As we plan for the future, we remain focused on preserving and enhancing opportunities for every student to excel.
